We change our menu every day based on what's fresh, and best available from our suppliers. Yes, our menu is small, but we are rather pleased about that. We tend to offer a choice of 3-4 starters, 3-5 mains and 3-5 deserts daily. 

We always include a vegetarian option and a fish dish, which can vary widely depending on what takes our fancy. 

Our fish supplier sources fresh fish on a daily basis from local day boat fisherman in Newhaven, Hastings and the Kent coast as well as Suffolk and Norfolk, this offers us access to a great variety of fresh fish and seafood.  

Meat wise, this year we are rearing 8 Berkshire pigs and 4 Wagyu steers here in the village. Watch this space for The Green Man's home grown meat, coming to your plates in September 2017. 

When we get the opportunity we love to offer local birds on the menu such as pigeon, pheasant or partridge, depending on the season. 

Our food isn't always sourced locally, but it is always the best that we can source in terms of quality and sustainability. 

The kitchen is open all day: 
12-9pm Tuesday-Thursday, 12-10pm Friday & Saturday & 12-6pm on Sundays. Please note that between 3-5pm Tuesday-Friday the kitchen is open, but for tapas only. 


We just love Sundays. Lazy lunches, newspapers that have a section for everyone, and a garden (or 2) to entertain the kids/dog.

Our Sunday menu consists of a choice of roasts (3-4 in winter & 2-3 in summer), a fresh fish dish and a vegetarian option. Tapas is also available. Children's portions

We offer children a half portion of any of the roasts for half the adult price, these meals include all the trimmings, Yorkshire pudds, roast potatoes, vegetables & jus. Our tapas is very child friendly, the chips, sausage rolls, fish gujons, hummous & pitta and continental meat board go down a storm with our younger diners.

  • Scottish lamb rump & lamb loin chop, served medium rare, spring onion & mustard mash, ale braised shallot & red onion, honey roast carrot, mint sauce & red wine jus
  • 28 day aged fillet of Buccleuch beef, roast tomato & field mushroom, hand cut chips, dressed leaves & peppercorn sauce
  • Broccoli, gorgonzola & walnut puff pastry tartlet, rocket, watercress & pea shoot salad, seeds &balsamic dressing
  • Pan fried fillet of salmon, sautéed new potato, green pepper, broccoli, chestnut mushroom, mibuna, spinach, fine bean & white wine cream
  • Scottish rump steak burger, served medium rare, horseradish, brioche bun, baby gem, tomato, slaw & hand cut chips


  • Selection of English artisan cheese, salted & seeded lavosh, plum & apricot chutney
  • 3 scoops of Ice Cream Union’s artisan ice cream & sorbet, choose from vanilla, cornflake or raspberry ripple ice cream & mango, granny smith apple or lemon sorbet 
  • Blueberry frangipane & Devonshire clotted cream
  • Baked apple & toffee crumble cheesecake, warm toffee sauce
  • Dark chocolate brownie, warm chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream
  • Butterscotch bread & butter pudding, pouring cream
Prices vary on any given day. In general starters range from £6-9, Mains from £14-25, and desserts from £6-8.

Our menu at the Green Man may be small, but it is seasonal, daily changing, and contains lots to get excited about. All of our dishes are cooked to order and the menu changes everyday to fit in what we can source from our suppliers. 

Our aim is to deliver truly great British pub food. Good, honest ingredients, executed well, to create a menu worth talking about, and returning for.



We are known for our variety and high standard of real ales, but that's not all we're pouring. 

We also have Sommersby cider & Staropramen on tap. 

If beer is not your thing... we have a small but well thought out wine list, so there is something to suit any whim or fancy.
