HAVE YOU MET OUR WAGYU CATTLE?

THEY'RE GRAZING IN MEADOWS JUST 100 METERS FROM THE PUB

THE CATTLE ARE INQUISITIVE & UTTERLY GORGEOUS

If you fancy pottering around the village before or after your visit to The Green Man, then why not go and visit our Wagyu cattle.

They're currently grazing happily in a meadow just 100m from the pub, just over the fence from our Berkshire pigs, we can point you in the right direction if need be.

Our cattle are spending the summer in Thriplow, getting fat and happy. They will be on the menu from October 2017.

Please note that our cattle are not domestic animals, they weight over 500kg each, and are very food focused. If you enter the field, they will approach you (often at speed) looking for their dinner, this can be intimidating! They mean you no harm, but like any large animal, should be treated with great caution.

If you enter the field with a dog the cattle may react by chasing the dog. The rambling association recommend that in this situation you release the dog from it's lead as it will easily outrun the cattle.

Wagyu beef...Wondering what makes it so special?

In a nut shell, it’s all about fat. Wagyu meat comes from a group of Japanese breeds revered for an especially high level of fat marbling.

We are not just talking about any old fat – Wagyu contains a soft fat with a very low melting point, due in part to its high proportion of monounsaturated fats, to go along with high levels of omega 3 and 6.

The fact is that fat is where the flavour resides, and this dissolving fat makes for the juiciest, richest beef in the world.

Keep an eye out for Wagyu beef on the menu at The Green Man from October 2017.

FOOD

Our menu at the Green Man may be small, but it is seasonal, daily changing, and contains lots to get excited about. All of our dishes are cooked to order and the menu changes everyday to fit in what we can source from our suppliers.

Our aim is to deliver truly great British pub food. Good, honest ingredients, executed well, to create a menu worth talking about, and returning for.

DRINK

We are known for our variety and high standard of real ales, but that's not all we're pouring.

We also have Sommersby cider & Staropramen on tap.

If beer is not your thing... we have a small but well thought out wine list, so there is something to suit any whim or fancy.
